Illustration Friday - Blue!

My friend Wade turned me on to this site called Illustration Friday where people from all over submit their illustrations based on an announced theme. I thought I'd give it a try and it turned out to be quite fun. It's been a while since I illustrated anything fun. Oh the theme this week is Blue.

Google Analytics

I've been using Google's new offering Google Analytics for a little over a week now. Here are my first impressions. Although the interface is mostly solid, I find that in certain areas you can't get back without using the left navigation which brings you back more steps then you need. The presentaion in Google Analytics is it's strong point; A contemporary design with lots of colorful info-pron graphics . Overall it's an extremely powerful tool for people and small business that can't afford the expensive alterantives.

User Experience Design

Interesting article on User Experience Design from semanticstudios.com. The article provides some really good information on evaluating the websites we design on how they stand up in terms of meeting their intended goals such as usabililty and some other factors you might not be aware of like credibility and whether the site is actually useful!
the Plough & the Stars

I just completed a full overhall of the Plough & the Stars' website. That includes an all new PHP backend and a brand new look and feel for their website. The Plough is an Irish Pub and Restaurant located in Old City Philadelphia; they have great food, drinks and traditional live Irish music on Sundays.

New Advanced Photoshop Magazine

I went to the bookstore this weekend and I picked up what appears to be a new design magazine focused on a more advanced look at Photoshop and it's tools. I'm impressed so far by the tutorials and other content but I am hesitant because these magazines can get cheesy very quickly. Also why are all these design mags based in the UK?
